Otago Museum was uncharacteristically filled with strains of music ranging from Coldplay and R.E.M. to Meat Loaf and Cyndi Lauper yesterday, when members of the Dunedin Rock Choir gave a concert on Level 1.

The enthusiastic performance was infectious and had the large crowd gathered, tapping their feet and singing along.

The audience got a double treat when Dr Julia Aranui-Faed walked in and heard the music filling the museum atrium.

The resident of Queen Rose Retirement Home, South Dunedin, showed her pleasure with an uninhibited dance.

The crowd responded with applause for the choir and for Dr Aranui-Faed, who is a psychiatrist and was a superintendent at the former Cherry Farm psychiatric hospital.
