The 22-year-old was arrested yesterday afternoon after police received information he and his girlfriend would be on the bus.
He was questioned at Dunedin Central Police station and appeared in the Dunedin District Court today.
He has interim name suppression and was dealt with by registrar's adjournment in the Dunedin District Court this morning.
He is charged jointly with Steven Kenneth Boskell (18), of Palmerston; Ryan Warren Geary-Smart (23), of Oamaru; and a 22-year-old Oamaru farm hand, who has interim name suppression, with murdering Justin Conrad McFarlane, on September 11.
All four have been remanded in custody to appear in the Timaru District Court on 1 October.
Police have also arrested a 52-year-old Oamaru woman and have been speaking to another person and "assessing their potential involvement".
The scene examination will be completed at Mr McFarlane's house in Pine Hill Road today where Mr McFarlane was found dead in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The forensic examination of the Nissan Skyline car connected to Geary-Smart has also been completed.
Acting Detective Inspector Colin Blackie says the Operation Steelers investigation team was grateful for good information they've received from members of the public, including sightings of the vehicles believed to be linked to the case.
"However, it's also been disappointing that a number of people appear to have been assisting those now facing murder charges either to evade Police or to destroy evidence that might be crucial to the case."
Yesterday police arrested a 52-year-old Oamaru woman charged with being an accessory after the fact in relation to Mr McFarlane's homicide.
She is due to appear in the Dunedin District Court later this week.
Police say that those people who may have assisted in protecting those now charged in relation to Mr McFarlane's death are likely to be the focus of
further inquiries.
