Thirty-four new morning trips have been included in the reduced Dunedin schedule, which will be in place for at least a month starting on Tuesday.
Getting to work on time was a worry among bus users when the initial reduced schedule was revealed, showing multiple early bus services removed.
Transport manager Doug Rodgers said passengers contacted the council about the need for early departures on the new reduced timetable.
"We have worked with operators to update the timetable and facilitate additional morning services in light of this feedback," Mr Rodgers said.
Cancellation of buses has been rife as drivers deal with Covid-19 and winter illnesses in an already understaffed industry, causing the council to prioritise certainty over frequency with a temporarily reduced timetable.
"The driver shortage has restricted what we can do but we have ensured our school services remain operational, and these extra morning services will help those who start work before 8am," he said.
Overall, the bus schedule in Dunedin would be reduced by "slightly less" than one-third.
Meanwhile, the overall reduction to the Queenstown bus schedule would be one-quarter.
Timetable information on the council website did not show the additional buses yesterday, but the schedule would be adjusted "in due course", the council said.
Information on the changes will be posted as website alerts and Transit App notifications.
The Orbus Dunedin and Queenstown Facebook pages will also carry any major updates about the networks, and passengers can also call the council for information on how their journey is impacted.
