Moore gives up battle for presidency

[comment caption= Do you think Moore has made the right decision?]Disqualified Otago University Student Association president-elect, Jo Moore, has decided not to take legal action against the association.

Ms Moore, a 19-year-old business student, was elected in mid-August, then three weeks later disqualified after complaints she breached the association's election rules by providing a laptop at a party at her house so guests could cast their online votes.

Ms Moore maintained yesterday that her decision to drop legal action was in no way an admission that she had done anything wrong.

"However, one must weigh up the possible legal costs to OUSA as an organisation and the damage this could cause all of its members."

She did not rule out standing again next year and suggested she would explore "other ways to right this wrong".
