McDonald's 'committed' to Mosgiel

McDonald's has not given up on establishing a restaurant in Mosgiel.

A McDonald's spokeswoman said the restaurant chain was reviewing the economic viability of its intended site at 14 Hartstonge Ave and alternative sites, because of the restrictive trading conditions attached to the 14 Hartstonge Ave resource consent.

Consent for the Hartstonge Ave site was given in late 2009, but a condition restricting opening hours prompted the rethink by the company.

Nearby residents opposed the plan because of the effects of noise, traffic, glare and lighting.

"We can, however, confirm that McDonald's remains committed to being part of the Mosgiel community," she said.
