Hundreds of spectators lined the Thomas Burns St skate park to watch skateboarders show their skills on the pyramids, rails, horseshoes, bowls and big stairs in the second annual Skate to Relate competition.
Organiser Seth Gorrie (21), of Dunedin, said the competition attracted 50 skateboarders, including several from Oamaru.
Skate to Relate was initially held to honour three members of the skateboarding community who died in 2008.
Three skateboards bearing their names would record the winner of each section of the competition.
Skateboarders were given two 60sec "runs" to show their ability, with judges awarding points out of 100 for their skill, style and consistency.
The event attracted support from the Dunedin skateboarding community, skateboarding shops and the Dunedin City Council, and featured DJs and a barbecue, Mr Gorrie said.
Dunedin City Council community adviser Michael Laufiso said it was fantastic to watch the talents of the skateboarders, who had been proactive in organising the well-run event.
Skate to Relate winners: Open, Ryan Clark (17); 16 and under, Finn Roberts (15); 13 and under, PJ Wybrow (13); and 10 and under, Daniel Metcalfe (10).
