Dunedin police are concerned about the behaviour of a young man who has been spotted numerous times hiding in bushes at a children's playground.
The man, described as a 25-year-old unshaven Caucasian of solid build with short brown hair, was most recently seen hiding in bushes at the children's playground on the corner of Highgate and Falcon St on Thursday afternoon.
Senior Sergeant Mel Aitken said the woman who reported the man to police said she had seen him lurking around the playground on other occasions.
He had also been seen approaching young children, Snr Sgt Aitken said.
This week he was spotted about 3pm, when children were leaving school.
"We have some concerns about the reason he's there and what he's up to," Snr Sgt Aitken said.
If he had a legitimate reason for hanging around the playground, he should contact police to resolve the matter, she said.
In the meantime, parents and caregivers were urged to be vigilant and report any unusual behaviour or sightings of the man to police.
