A decision on the contentious proposal to close Lovelock Ave in Dunedin is expected to be announced early this week.
Dunedin City Council communications co-ordinator Rodney Bryant said minor clerical matters had to be attended to.
Letters were expected to be sent after that to people who made submissions to resource consent hearings on the matter.
The proposal to close Lovelock Ave to make it part of the Dunedin Botanic Garden attracted opposition at hearings last year and in March this year.
Garden managers want the road realigned to allow more room for the Rhododendron Dell, allow relocation of propagation houses and administration buildings, and deal with safety issues related to the road.
It is a project supported by the Friends of the Dunedin Botanic Garden.
However, many Opoho residents opposed the plan, saying the proposed new road would be too steep, too frosty in winter and too prone to sun-strike.
