The minister was expected to give a speech at a Dunedin Chamber of Commerce lunch in the gallery, but his scheduled flight to Dunedin from Wellington was delayed, then cancelled.
Mr English instead delivered his presentation from Wellington, via an internet link. He also missed an opportunity to talk to master of business administration students at the University of Otago.
Later, he managed to travel from Wellington to his electorate of Clutha-Southland, where he stayed last night.
