Log loader strikes power line causing outage

Power has been restored to Dunedin's wharf area after a log loader struck overhead lines causing an outage this morning.

Properties in Jutland St, Fryatt St, Parry St and surrounding were without power from at least 6.30am this morning.

An Aurora Energy spokesman said power had been restored.

"Power was restored to all affected customers in the Fryatt Street area shortly before 9.00am after a log loader contacted overhead power lines earlier this morning.

"Before working near overhead power lines, always look up, look out and follow minimum safe distances.

"All work activity must be kept at least four metres from overhead power lines for your safety and the safety of others."
