Whether you are into rock, reggae, dance or dubstep, there was something for everyone at the Waitati Music and Arts Festival on Saturday.

About 1000 people visited Bland Park throughout the day and enjoyed a range of musical styles as well as poetry, art, food and children's entertainment.

Festival co-ordinator Katie Peppercorn said it was a chance for the community to come together, relax and listen to some ‘‘good music''.

‘‘[It was about] getting our whole community here for a nice day outside,'' she said.

‘‘Lots of the Waitati community came together to plan and pull off the event.''

Nine bands, 10 DJs and 21 poets featured at the community festival , including band Left or Right, DJ Jungle and poet David Eggleton.

Ms Peppercorn said the Dunedin City Council, Creative New Zealand, the Otago Community Trust and Community Organisation Grants helped fund the day.
