Several Dunedin life coaches have joined forces in a bid to inspire Dunedin residents to overcome anxieties sparked by the Covid-19 pandemic.

About 50 people attended a series of talks, titled "Stepping Into Your Power", and held at the Dunningham Suite, Dunedin Public Library, on Saturday afternoon.

One of the event organisers, Robyn Vintiner, said many people had been worried and confused by the coronavirus pandemic, and some people had also lost their jobs or had lost working hours and were receiving reduced pay.

Other people had lost loved ones and in some cases had not been able to hold or attend funerals in the usual way, she said.

The Dunedin Coaches Network had existed for about 12 years, but this was the first time it had sought to organise a shared community workshop, in this case paid by koha.

The aim was to "provide inspiration and life-affirming advice", and to bring together coaches from the network to help people who were feeling traumatised by the Covid-19 lockdown and its repercussions.

The speakers were encouraging concerned people to use their inner powers to overcome the anxieties and problems which Covid-19 had caused, she said.

Master of ceremonies Julie Woods said the event had been a "great success" and those who attended "did leave inspired" and $303 had been raised for the Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust.

The speakers were Pleasance Hansen, Mrs Vintiner, Joanna Budai, Daphne Wells, Ms Woods, Ainee Cha, and Claire Porima gave the opening and closing karakia (prayer) and blessing.
