King's student suspended over bullying

A pupil has been suspended at King’s High School  after a video of the boy bullying a Queen’s High School pupil appeared  online.

The video surfaced on Thursday evening and  showed a boy wearing  a King’s uniform taunting a  Queen’s pupil as she walked to school.

The boy yelled "bowl cut" at the girl - an apparent bullying reference to her hairstyle - and taunted her as she asked him to go away.

The post on Facebook which accompanied the video said the boy aimed  derogatory terms at the girl such as "fat, ugly and b...".

King’s rector Dan Reddiex yesterday confirmed the school had met  the pupil and his parents and the pupil had been suspended.

"His conduct was unacceptable and out of line with the expectations we hold of our students."

The pupil would now be subject to the disciplinary processes surrounding the suspension decision, Mr Reddiex said.

A police spokeswoman said no complaint had been laid.
