After five days of David Bain's retrial on five charges of murder, the jury hearing the case in the High Court in Christchurch has selected its foreman.
Seven women and five men were selected last Friday to hear the case, but Justice Graham Panckhurst told them they should take a few days before deciding which of their number would have the task of chairing their discussions.
Yesterday afternoon, the judge said he had been informed a foreman had been chosen.
The hearing has now been adjourned until Monday, when there will be more evidence from police and ambulance staff who went to the Bain family's house in Andersons Bay in response to a 111 call on the morning of June 20, 1994.
Of the Crown's proposed 150 witnesses, 22 have completed their evidence, either in person or in statements read to the court.
Interest in the case has remained high through the first days, with most of the 20-plus media contingent still present and the upstairs public gallery consistently about half full.
