Indecent act witnessed on Port Chalmers main street

Police are searching for a man who was seen allegedly performing an indecent act on the main street of Port Chalmers yesterday.

A Dunedin Police spokesman said they were called about 5.30pm to reports of a man in his late 60s with long, white hair and a "scraggly" beard engaged in an indecent act on George St in view of pedestrians and passing motorists.

The man was described by a witness as being about six feet (1.83m) tall, wearing a red polo shirt and blue jeans, police said.

No arrests have been made and police are appealing for help in locating the alleged offender.
