Three people who remained living at a Bush Rd, Mosgiel, house allegedly attracting a steady stream of young runaways and criminal activity, have been moved to different addresses - but that does not mean they will not be back, police warn.

A 22-year-old man, who is understood to have became the only adult in the house after the man who held the lease with Housing New Zealand was sent to prison, has had his bail conditions changed to make another address his usual place of residence.

He is on bail after he was arrested last week on charges of receiving stolen goods and supplying cannabis.

Police confirmed two teenage girls who live at the Bush Rd house have also been placed in care at other addresses.

However, people could spend time at other addresses without it meaning the address they were bailed to or in care at was no longer their usual place of residence, Senior Sergeant Darryl Lennane, of Mosgiel, said.

The people had been back at the Bush Rd house since their residential arrangements were altered, but doing that did not necessarily mean they were breaching any conditions of their respective arrangements, he said.

Asked if it had taken any further action against the tenants of the house after local residents raised their concerns this week, and police last week arrested six people connected with the house, following a recent series of burglaries in Mosgiel, a spokeswoman said Housing New Zealand could not comment.

Snr Sgt Lennane said five males, including the 22-year-old man, were arrested late last week in relation to the burglaries.

A sixth person, a 15-year-old youth, was also apprehended and referred to youth aid, in relation to a burglary at Lee's Burger Bar in Factory Rd, Mosgiel, in which an air rifle was taken and then used to break eight windows at East Taieri School.

That youth also had associations with the Bush Rd house.
