Gallop South general manager Malcolm Little said organisers were pleased with the 4785 attendance, which was about 1000 more than in 2013 but not a course record. The format followed last year's, with more activities for children between races, including a sack race and a horseshoe toss.
Queues of people headed for the coffee tents as the rain set in about 2pm, but the sun was back out again for the last race at 4.30pm. The variety of food and beverages on offer, as well as the fashion in the field contest, were again popular, Mr Little said.
The on-course turnover was above budget.
