Steady rain and its effect on the Dacron material many of the floats and costumes were made with caused the parade to be postponed last Sunday for the first time in 12 years and it was reorganised for tomorrow.
Mr Dodds said the MetService forecast for Dunedin tomorrow was for "fine spells with the odd shower" and he was hoping for it to be only a rare "very odd shower".
"We don't want the kids to miss out."
However, if the unthinkable happened, the organising committee would look for another option.
"We're looking on the positive; it won't happen. We're still working on a contingency plan."
If rain meant the parade, which travelled down George St to the Octagon, needed to be put off a second time, cars would go through the streets informing people and the Dunedin City Council information desk would be notified too.
Otherwise, the parade would proceed as it was to have last weekend.
Parade floats would be marshalled from about 9am until about noon, with the event starting at 3pm.
The parade would be followed by a concert in the Octagon.
