Returned and Services Association (RSA) executive member Lox Kellas raises the flag to half-mast in Dunedin’s Queens Gardens yesterday.
The bulk of those who had served had sworn allegiance to the crown, and therefore to the Queen, he said.
Flowers from the RSA were also left under the flag in tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who had been commander in chief of the armed forces.
