Tens of thousands of people flooded George St and the Octagon in protest on Saturday after the government announced its plans to either down-scale the new Dunedin hospital project, or ditch it altogether in favour of retrofitting the present hospital.
The Dunedin City Council estimated about 35,000 people from across Otago and Southland joined the march and protest.
