Otago Daily Times reporter George Block hit King Edward St in the heart of South Dunedin yesterday to take the pulse of the electorate, following Clare Curran’s shock announcement she would step down.
He asked has Clare Curran been a good MP for the electorate? And why or why not?
I think she's tried her best, I guess. I think whatever has happened that's caused her to resign, I suppose that's her choice. I don't think they take any prisoners these days, do they?
I do actually, I think she gets a harder time than she's deserved. It's a hard job being in Parliament. I always noticed if we had something on down here I saw her involved and talking to people.
Very good. She was pretty upfront and did her job and left other people to do theirs.
I'm not a huge one for getting into local politics but I do know her and I've seen her around for the five years that I've lived here and I think she's done a really good job.
