The side of a woman's head is not the place you'd expect to find a walrus moustache, but a Dunedin woman now has a unique hairdo she hopes will raise a lot of money for men's health.
As the "walrus-style" moustache was created, she confided her mother who lives in Invercargill, loved her daughter's long hair so much she had not been told about the shave.
But after the deed, by Krisandra Treweek, of Princes St salon Jonathan & Treweek, Miss Naylor phoned her mother.
"Mum was a little concerned, but was laughing by the end of the conversation."
Miss Naylor, a Health Ministry payment officer, said it was the fifth year she had participated in Movember, the men's health awareness campaign.
She usually fundraised by baking moustache-shaped cookies and wearing a fake moustache, but decided on something different this year.
She hopes to better her previous fundraising efforts of about $300.
A salon client started her collection yesterday with a $10 donation.
