Dunedin actress Cindy Diver donned a bunny costume and headed out with her son Harrison (9) to draw some chalk eggs on the footpath.

It meant children who might not get eggs of the chocolate variety would still be able to go on an egg hunt, she said.

"One thing I really believe in is random acts of art to remind people we’re all in this together, and make them smile," she said.

It was not the first time she had put on a costume to give people a laugh.

Last week she dressed up in an inflatable dinosaur costume with a collar saying "Rex" on it, so Harrison could take his "dog" out for a walk.
