Dunedin's Wall Street shopping mall has reopened after a pane of ceiling glass shattered, sending glass fragments falling on to shoppers below.

The incident happened about 11am and the mall was closed for about one hour, before reopening with part of the atrium area still cordoned off.

Shop staff spoken to by the Otago Daily Times said two shoppers were underneath when the glass pane shattered, showering them with debris, but neither was injured.
