Her journey has taken her from her village north of Hamburg, to Thailand, before reaching Dunedin on Tuesday night.
For Miss Scheele (27) to win a Hanover-based radio station prize worth €10,000 ($NZ18,360), she must travel further than another would-be bride, and return to the Hanover by Friday morning.
But like all good wedding plans, there is a hitch.
Leaving with no money, she had to beg and borrow to fund her journey while wearing the same white wedding dress for almost a fortnight.
But she plans to buy a new dress for her nuptials.
"It is a little worn and dirty now ... but it doesn't smell."
Accompanied by a radio station producer, Miss Scheele was allowed five items, opting for a jacket, jersey, make-up, moisturiser and a bottle of water.
She arrived in Christchurch on Tuesday from Bangkok on business class, thanks to an airline upgrade, before flying to Dunedin later that night.
Miss Scheele was hosted by Southern Taxis airport shuttle driver Rex Johnston, whom she met at the airport, and was driven to Cape Saunders yesterday morning to prove how far from Hanover she had travelled.
After posing for the Otago Daily Times yesterday morning, she caught a flight to Christchurch, before leaving the country less than a day after she arrived.
"But I will come back ... maybe, for my honeymoon."
Her fiance, Sven Brand, remained in Hanover, competing against the other would-be grooms for cash prizes, but she had heard he was "not doing too well".
Miss Scheele said she was keeping her Dunedin destination a secret from her competitor, who is believed to have travelled as far as Banks Peninsula.
If she wins, the couple plan to marry next month, but would wait a year if she doesn't.
"I must win," she said.
