Blake Armstrong (12) was one of dozens of children who attended Toitu Otago Settlers Museum yesterday to learn how to make steampunk goggles and ray guns.
A workshop spokeswoman said she had been doing the steampunk-themed workshops with children for nearly a year.
"You give a child the basics ... watching them develop their own ideas. Their own personality gets put into their things. Imagination's a wonderful thing.
"I get as much out of it as they do ...''
