"It's been a year-long project and it has been missed by customers and tenants. But we wanted to provide something significantly better," Golden Centre Mall manager Simon Eddy said yesterday.
"The seating capacity has been increased, from 250 to 350, and we've increased the area 30% by removing storage areas at both ends of the food court."
The $1.5 million upgrade was the final stage in a $5 million project, which began in 2009 with the redevelopment of the main retail area in the mall. The food court was closed in mid-2010 and construction started last May.
The new food court tenants include Pitta Hut, Shamiana, Starvving, Modian and Top Chef.
The final two tenants would be announced shortly, Mr Eddy said.
"They're all new brands to Dunedin." The new food court will be open from 9am on Monday.
