Dunedin store Hallenstein Brothers is on the move.

General manager Glenn Hunter said the boys and men's clothing shop was moving ''a few doors down'' George St to a 420sq m shop in mid-September.

The new shop, at 266 George St, near Albion Pl, would be the company's second ''flagship store'' in New Zealand.

The first opened in Lambton Quay, Wellington, last year and management decided Dunedin should have the second ''flagship fit-out''.

A flagship store was bigger, with innovative lighting, displays and audio-visual elements including large television screens, projectors and audio.

The front of the new store was wider than the shop it leased at 248 George St for 24 years, he said.

Dunedin was selected because the company had been in Dunedin for 140 years and the business traded ''very well'' in the city, he said.
