Mosgiel Police are seeking information following several thefts and burglaries in the Taieri area, especially south of Mosgiel.
Between June 14 and 17, a chain was cut to access the Gladfield Golf Course and 10 metres of firewood valued at $700 and a wood-splitter valued at $3000 were stolen.
Police believe a larger vehicle, such as a truck, was used to remove the items.
Senior Sergeant Al Dickie said firewood thefts were happening across the coastal Otago area and police would like to hear from anyone with information about the suspicious sale of firewood.
On June 20, offenders entered a yard near the golf course on Gladstone Road and placed a large rotary hoe on a trailer in the yard. However, they could not cut the padlock securing it.
Snr Sgt Dickie said in recent months there had also been sporadic burglaries and thefts of diesel and farm equipment across the Taieri, particularly south of Mosgiel around Momona, Berwick , Outram, Henley and Waihola.
"We would ask that people are vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police preferably with descriptions of vehicles and individuals and number plates of vehicles," he said.
Information can be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or to Mosgiel Police on (03) 4890705.
