A fire safety officer was called out last night to inspect a house in High St, Central Dunedin, which caught fire about 7.45pm.
The fire spread up the outside wall of a large, fourælevel wooden villa divided into five flats, Roslyn senior station officer Grant Clarkson said.
Firefighters and two appliances attended and put out the fire before it got inside the building.
A fire safety officer had yet to complete the inspection.
