A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said fire crews from St Kilda and Lookout Point were called to Reservoir Rd about 12.40pm.
They found a grass fire stretching about 50m down the side of the road.
They extinguished the fire, using two high-pressure hoses, within half an hour, the spokesman said.
The cause of the fire was unclear.
