"It was a fire in the wall, which had broken out behind a vat, and we had to dismantle a fair bit of the cooking equipment to get to it, " City senior station officer Lindsay Rae said.
"There was a likelihood of it becoming quite serious, as it had got into the underside of the floor of the upstairs flat, which was occupied."
The fire was attended by two units from City Station and one from Willowbank.
