Firefighters were called to Dunedin Hospital this morning after someone reported a smell of burning.
A Fire Service spokeswoman said crews from three stations - Dunedin City, St Kilda and Lookout Point - were called to the clinical services about 10.50am.
Crews from two stations - Willowbank and Roslyn - were called later after a burning smell was reported in the children's pavilion.
The investigation revealed no fire in the clinical services.
The crews believed the smell detected in clinical services was coming from outside the hospital.
An investigation of the pavilion failed to turn up any signs of fire, and the crews have all left the scene.
