The first of the week's two shows was held at the Dunedin Railway Station before a sold-out crowd.
Host Carol Hirschfeld congratulated the 1500 attending on "defying the bracing evening air" by wisely, and fashionably, layering up.
Some were even smart enough to bring blankets to ward off the southerly wind, but all lapped up the beautifully crafted garments on show.
"Nowhere, other than Dunedin, has a single fashion show that features the work of 16 different labels - established and emerging - more than 50 models, countless garments and a 110m catwalk," she said.
The show opened with a burst of colour from Carlson before taking a more military turn with Nom*D and Mild Red.
Those who attended the iD International Emerging Designer Awards were glad to have a second look at some of the finalist collections, while first-time viewers were amazed by the innovative and moving use of textiles.
Original 1960s Chanel and Dior topped off another unforgettable, uniquely Dunedin, show.
The second show, also sold out, starts at 8 o'clock tonight.
