Power Farming Otago general manager Daniel Scoles examines a 3m by 3m hole in his chain link  fence, which was cut to allow a farm vehicle  like the one behind to be stolen on Thursday morning.

CCTV footage from a neighbouring business shows  someone breaking into the business in Stack St, near State Highway 1 in Allanton, and stealing a  second-hand red and black utility task vehicle (UTV) about 4.50am on Thursday.

It was worth about $6000, Mr Scoles said.

As the footage cut out before the vehicle was taken, he assumed the thief was able to start the UTV and drive off. It was the third theft from a business in the area in less than a month and police were now investigating, he said.

He believed the  UTV had been  targeted.

For less than $2,000 you can get a decent security camera set from Noel Leemings. Don't rely on your neighbours cameras.
