No-one likes hearing half a story.

Dunedin fans of Australian rocker Jimmy Barnes are ‘‘disappointed’’ the musician is bypassing their town on an upcoming tour, after performing the first half of the show at the Regent Theatre last year.

In May, Barnes will perform ‘‘Working Class Man: An Evening of Stories and Songs’’ in Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland and Hamilton.

The concert is a sequel to his show ‘‘Working Class Boy’’, a companion piece to the first volume of his memoirs, which included a performance in Dunedin in February last year.

The first show details his childhood and ends with the 18-year-old singer in his new band, Cold Chisel.

Jimmy Barnes fan Arron Goodwin, of Dunedin, said he was part of the ‘‘full house’’ at the ‘‘hard-hitting’’ first show at Regent Theatre.

‘‘It was a great night — I would have thought that after the success of the Dunedin show it would have been worth it for him to return.’’

He was ‘‘disappointed’’ the sequel was bypassing Dunedin.

‘‘Come to Dunedin, Jimmy, and finish the story.’’

Mr Goodwin was not alone in his disappointment.

After a post by The Star on social media, Sharon Oliver said the first show was ‘‘fantastic’’ and she was ‘‘disappointed’’ by the snub and Christchurch was too far to travel to see Barnes.

Melinda Gibbs said she was ‘‘gutted’’.

‘‘[I] love him and loved ‘Working Class Boy’.’’

The Star asked the ‘‘Working Class Man’’ promoter, Eccles Entertainment, why Dunedin was not included on the upcoming tour schedule.

Eccles Entertainment managing director Brent Eccles said it was because the ‘‘cut-down’’ tour schedule had ‘‘more ticket capacity’’ over fewer cities.
