Aidan said inside the shoe box he decorated were milk bottle lollies, a temporary tattoo, a toy car, a toy dinosaur and a book.
The goods he bought were for a child ''who didn't get much for Christmas''.
Family Works social work supervisor Debbie Gelling said the cub pack's donation was ''extremely valued''.
''We have had unprecedented demand on the service for food parcels,'' Mrs Gelling said.
The social services organisation gave out about 2000 food parcels last year and more than 1000 food parcels in the three months from August this year.
''That trend is continuing.''
Mrs Gelling expected more than 100 food parcels would be given this week to people in need, including many ''working families''.
