Extra trustees to raise expertise

The Montecillo Trust has appointed four new trustees in the hope it will expand the depth of expertise in its management.

Trust chairman David More said the recent departure of two trustees left two vacancies, which were filled by University of Otago accountancy and business law associate professor John Burke and former J. C. Gore managing director and jeweller Kevin McLoughlin.

Mr More said the pair had been chosen because of their financial expertise.

However, in a bid to diversify representation, the trust appointed two additional trustees.

He said Dunedin CIB detective Jenepher Glover was appointed because she provided much-needed female representation.

She is president of the Dunedin RSA, a trustee of the RSA Welfare Trust, has been deployed overseas with the New Zealand Police in the Solomons and East Timor, and has a BA and a postgraduate diploma in anthropology from the University of Otago.

Duffill Watts project manager Andrew Rooney was the second additional trustee to be appointed.

Mr Rooney was formerly an engineering officer with the Royal New Zealand Air Force and retired in 2007 with the rank of squadron leader.

He also has a master's degree in business and technology from the University of New South Wales.

Mr More was delighted with the additions.

"All four new trustees bring relevant skills to the Montecillo board. They all have a history of community service, and their combined knowledge and experience will ensure that the veterans at Montecillo continue to receive the best possible care."
