This Dunedin art exhibition is guaranteed to brighten up your day.

The Rainbow Connection Exhibition, hosted by the Otago Art Society and part of this year’s Fringe Festival, is an exhibition awash in all the colours of the rainbow.

From today to April 1, visitors can experience the vibrant experience at the Dunedin Railway Station.

March is Dunedin Pride Month, and the exhibition is accepting donations on behalf of Dunedin Pride.

Exhibition leader Anne Baldock said the message at the heart of the exhibition went a long way to support Dunedin’s rainbow community.

"The rainbow’s symbolism has various meanings — hope, good fortune, positivity, inclusivity and diversity."

Artists were asked to respond to the theme "rainbow connection" and share their vision of the all-embracing message of love and friendship.

Painting, jewellery, textiles, ceramics and a wide range of mediums would be on display.

Judge Janet de Wagt said she enjoyed the "overwhelming colour that gives a feast for the eyes".

There was an incredible range of artistic interpretations, and she was pleased they all contributed to one dialogue.

"The work is so varied. It goes from one extreme to another and always enhancing the rainbow essence," she said.

Visitors were encouraged to bask in the "rainbow room" bursting with colour from head to toe.

March 18 would be a dedicated morning of family fun with a range of rainbow-themed activities, including stone painting, a treasure hunt and detail detective.

There would be prizes for the best rainbow costumes.

The event is sponsored by Resene.
