A shed on a rural property at Evansdale, near Dunedin, has been destroyed in a suspicious fire this morning, emergency services say.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand was alerted to the Stead Rd fire at 7.07am and a fire appliance from Willowbank in Dunedin and a water tanker from Waikouaiti attended.
The 24sq m shed was heavily involved in fire and was collapsing as firefighters arrived, a Fenz spokesman said.
The fire's cause was unknown, was being viewed as suspicious and had been referred to fire safety and police, he said.
It was a rural shed, with no house nearby.
