Dunedin woman (21) blows three times legal limit

A 21-year-old woman who was nearly three times the legal alcohol limit was one of 41 drivers charged with drink-driving after a fortnight blitz by Dunedin police.

Police stopped almost 3000 drivers at checkpoints and mobile patrol stops as part of Operation Intoxication, which ended on Sunday last week.

Three women, including one 21-year-old, recorded levels over 1100mcg.

The legal limit is 400mcg.

Senior Constable Marty Van Elste said it was a "disappointing result" as people were blatantly ignoring the "don't drink and drive" message.
