A vegetation fire in Dunedin kept fire crews busy yesterday.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman said it was called to Palmer Pl, Taieri Mouth, about 1.30pm after reports of bush on fire. Fire crews from Brighton and Waihola attended the blaze which covered about 30m of coastline.

Because of a moderate wind, fire appliances from Balclutha and Lookout Point were called to put out the fire. Crews worked through the afternoon to dampen down hot spots, she said.
