A Dunedin-based constable has been stood down and an investigation launched, police have confirmed.
Police declined to answer specific questions about the nature of the allegations, but sent a brief statement yesterday afternoon.
``We can confirm that we are investigating an allegation against a Dunedin-based constable and that the constable has been stood down,'' a police spokeswoman said.
``We are not in a position to comment further while this process is under way.''
The Otago Daily Times understands the officer was stood down earlier this week.
