Dunedin police have arrested a driver and seized his vehicle following the alleged hit and run of a cyclist last week.
A 20-year-old Dunedin man has been charged with careless driving causing injury and failing to stop to ascertain injury. He is due to appear in the Dunedin District Court next week.
A cyclist received spinal injuries, bruising and lacerations after a collision with a car at the intersection of Melbourne and King Edward Sts about 9.45pm last Tuesday.
The victim's head struck the car with such force a wing mirror was smashed from the vehicle , believed to a blue Honda Torneo. Acting Sergeant Keith Braithwaite, of the Dunedin Police Tactical Crime Unit, said a blue Honda Torneo car had been seized by police for examination.
Police thanked the public for information which led to the arrest.
