Police have praised the staff of a Dunedin service station, after they yesterday reported a drink-driver who was allegedly nearly six times over the legal limit.
Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Scoles said the 18-year-old unemployed Mosgiel man drove into the BP outlet in Cumberland St shortly after 4am, in a "remarkably drunk" state.
Staff alerted police, with the man later recording a breath-alcohol reading of 859mcg.
The limit for those under 20 is 150mcg.
The man was charged with drink-driving, breaching bail conditions and resisting arrest. His licence was also suspended for 28 days.
He appeared in the Dunedin District Court yesterday and was remanded in custody.
