Two Dunedin motorists who fled after crashing their cars have been charged with drink-driving.
Acting Senior Sergeant Chris George said both men had breath-alcohol levels about three times the legal limit.
A 37-year-old Dunedin man driving a Toyota Camry in Hawthorn Ave, Mornington, crashed the car into a concrete power pole at 3.55am yesterday.
The man was found by police dogs after fleeing the crash scene.
He was charged with drink-driving after recording a breath-alcohol level of 1200mcg - three times the legal limit of 400mcg, Acting Snr Sgt George said.
On Saturday, a 22-year-old Dunedin driver was followed in a car by a Mornington resident, who allegedly heard the man's car crash into a parked car in Haig St and drive away about 11.20pm.
The resident contacted police and the man was apprehended and charged with drink-driving after recording a breath-alcohol level of 1130mcg.
Both would appear in the Dunedin District Court, Acting Sen Sgt George said.
