Dogs at the Wakari Dog Park will be fully enclosed when they visit the park after the completion of a fence.

Work on the fence at the bottom of the Dunedin dog park began about two weeks ago.

Dunedin City Council parks and recreation group manager Tom Dyer said the fence would provide a secure boundary for dogs in the park.

The fence was constructed in an area where no trees needed to be removed and path disturbance would be minimal, Mr Dyer said.

Work on tracks and ground at the park would be done this month.Water fountains at the park would be turned off over winter, he said.
