A helicopter was needed to rescue two divers who found themselves in trouble on Otago Harbour on Saturday.
The two men had been diving in the harbour and were on their way back to shore when their boat started to take on water.
A police spokeswoman said the pair, who were wearing wetsuits, managed get out of the boat and make it to the mudflats near Aramoana, where they called for help about 1.30pm.
Police, Coastguard Dunedin and Harbour Tug all helped with the rescue.
The pair were successfully extracted from the mudflats by the Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter, she said.
Two rescue swimmers on board the helicopter were not needed and the men were not injured, the spokeswoman said.
