Ms Hedley, who was known as Nic, went missing from a party in Harington Point early on Sunday.
Dozens of police, SAR volunteers and members of the public were involved in a search for her on Monday and Tuesday.
Her body was found on Goat Island on Tuesday afternoon by searchers.
"Nic Hedley’s death is not being treated as suspicious," a police spokeswoman said.
Police would not comment on the findings of the pathologist and referred all further comment to the coroner.
A Ministry of Justice spokesman said the coroner would not comment on the matter until the coronial process was complete.
A Givealittle page has been set up by Ms Hedley’s roller derby friends to raise money for her children. More than $4500 had been raised by late yesterday afternoon.
The roller derby community paid tribute to their friend yesterday.
"Nic Hedley, known as Nicki Noxious to the roller derby community, was a strong, independent and capable woman, and a devoted mum to her three kids," spokeswoman Sam Mitchell said.
"Noxious was our team-mate, and our friend. Nicki Noxious was always more than a skater, she was a coach, she was a captain, she was a chairperson, and she was a force to be reckoned with on and off the track."
Ms Hedley represented New Zealand in the sport’s Roller Derby World Cup.
"Noxious was a beautiful person, who helped and influenced so many people around her," Ms Mitchell said.
"Her strength, resilience, passion, wicked humour and that little bit of mongrel she had in her that made her such a fierce skater will be missed desperately."
Te Runanga o Otakou have placed a rahui on the inner harbour area where Ms Hedley’s body was found.
Ms Hedley’s body will be taken to Otakou marae today and her funeral will be held tomorrow at 2pm.
