Results of review likely next month

The Dunedin City Council should get the results of a review of its under-fire companies Delta and Aurora within weeks.

Mayor Dave Cull yesterday said he had delivered a call from the council to holding company Dunedin City Holdings Ltd (DCHL) asking for it to ''urgently advise'' whether it still had confidence in the chairman and board of Delta and Aurora.

The call was the result of a notice of motion the council voted to support at a meeting on Tuesday.

Moved by Cr David Benson-Pope, it was not expected to prompt an immediate response, but to publicly express the elected body's concerns about the issue.

Mr Cull also gave an update on a review of the power network by consultant Deloitte, announced early this month.

The review was called for by DCHL after lines company Aurora and infrastructure company Delta came under the spotlight amid claims they failed to deal with dangerous power poles and other electricity infrastructure.

Mr Cull said he had passed on the council's resolution to DCHL chairman Graham Crombie yesterday afternoon, and had asked about the review.

''My understanding is that we would be hoping to get a response [to the review] in the early part of next month.''

He said he had been told the companies had been collating information for Deloitte.

There was widespread interviewing of people, not just within the company, but also of those who had expressed concerns outside the company.

''Deloitte will report on all the issues raised.''

Mr Cull said he was comfortable with the process that was unfolding, and DCHL's role.

''I've got no reason to believe they are not handling it well, at my request.''
